Echoes of Hope: A Global Music Journey Across Cultures & Borders
An uplifting benefit concert for the International Rescue Committee (IRC)
Tuesday, June 17 at 7:30 PM
Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle
This concert is a musical tribute to the strength, beauty, and humanity of people who’ve been forced to start over. The program weaves together classical and folk traditions from around the world—celebrating the cultures and stories of refugees through sound.
You’ll hear:
- Ukrainian folk melodies full of longing and hope
- Arabic and Latin rhythms that pulse with memory and life
- African-inspired violin and piano works that evoke resilience and joy
- Music by composers Florence Price, William Grant Still, Mohammed Fairouz, Dvořák, and John Williams
Performers include:
– Emerald City Chamber Players, a dynamic ensemble known for expressive playing and heartfelt storytelling (many of them are NOCCO musicians)
– Valentyn Lysenko, a Ukrainian bandura virtuoso whose music channels the soul of his homeland
– Darin Chhing, a gifted Cambodian-American composer honoring his family’s survival of the Khmer Rouge
– The brilliant Roosevelt High School Orchestra, bringing youthful energy and emotional depth to the stage
All proceeds go to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), which supports refugees and families who’ve lost everything due to war, disaster, or displacement. This is a chance to come together through music—to listen, to reflect, and to give hope.
