Pastor Ken Miller Rieman
Ken became Olympic View’s pastor in January of 2005. Later that year he married Kate Miller and they now reside just north of the city line, in Lake Forest Park.
In accepting Olympic View’s call, Ken cited the congregation’s compelling commitment to: service in the community and world, welcoming diversity, and engaging issues of peace and social justice.
Ken is also a carpenter, photographer, and amateur audiophile who enjoys being out of doors, sailing, playing team sports like soccer, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball, free-style cooking, throwing steel-tipped darts, tossing golf discs, staring at Google Earth, and visiting the alpine lakes on his computer flight simulator.
Ken loves to travel with his wife, visit with friends and family, and particularly enjoys working, learning, and playing with young people. He regularly counsels summer church camp, and attends national and international work camps and conferences with the Church of the Brethren. As an avid conversationalist, an ‘Enneagram 7′, an idea person, and a member of the Center for Wooden Boats, Ken jumps on the chance to hook up with others who enjoy any of these things.
His most recent pastorates include:
Pastor, Huntington Church of the Brethren in Huntington, Indiana. 1999-2004
Youth pastor, Manchester Church of the Brethren in North Manchester, IN. 1998-1999.
Youth pastor, Nettle Creek Church of the Brethren in Hagerstown, IN. 1996-1998.
Ken earned his M.Div. from Bethany Theological Seminary in 1999,
and his B.A. in Peace Studies from Manchester College in 1992.
